Signing the cooperation memorandum between VNU and Chicago University
On March 8, 2011, a delegation from Chicago University (The U.S.) led by Prof.Dr. Robert Zimmer has had a visit and working day with VNU.

Welcoming the delegation are Prof.Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, President of VNU, Prof.Dr.Sc. Vu Minh Giang and Prof.Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Vice President, and other functional units, leaders of member universities.

At the meeting, both sides have introduced the operational model, the strength and orientation of each side. On the VNU’s side, Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan said that VNU is a university under the direct management of the Prime Minister, VNU has the autonomy and high self-responsibility in all activities. As an undergraduate interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary university, VNU has many similarities with the model of American universities. VNU looks forward to working with Chicago University in many areas such as nanotechnology strengths, leadership training, management ... In particular, VNU looks forward to working with the Chicago University in higher education in which has the consensus guidance of two universities’ professors.

 

Prof.Dr. Zimmer has shown his happiness to have the chance to visit VNU, the leading university in Vietnam. Mr.Zimmer has pressed that Chicago University is willing to co-operate with VNU in basic science, social science…

After that, Prof.Dr. Zimmer and Prof. Ngo Bao Chau have conducted exchanges with leaders, discussed with the member universities of VNU to find and expand areas of cooperation.

At the meeting, both sides have conducted cooperation registration records.

 

Chicago University, an America's top universities, was founded in 1890 with the strengths of training and scientific research. Chicago University is a research university, focusing on postgraduate training, with six member schools, including School of Theology - Religion, School of Business, School of Law, School of Medicine, School of Public Policy and Research School of social services. Chicago University currently has 5134 undergraduate students, 10,492 graduate students with 2,211 faculty and staff. The research strength of Chicago University focuses on the fields of basic science, technology, economics, law and other sciences. In particular, there are 85 scientists who win Nobel Prize were former students, faculty and researchers here, among those are eight people who are still working here. Every year, Chicago University spends about 500 million U.S. dollars for the prizes for scientific research and technology.
