Attending the working session, on Georgia State University’s side, were Associate Provost for International Initiatives Wolfgang Schlör; Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Risa Palm; and Prof. Larry Berman – Founding Dean of GSU’s Honors College, author of “X6 – Perfect Spy” – a book on the legendary spy Pham Xuan An.

On VNU’s side, there were representatives from VNU’s functional departments, leaders of the University of Languages and International Studies, the University of Engineering and Technology, the School of Law and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies.

At the working session, VNU’s affiliates presented their cooperative potential in the fields of Urban Management, Computer Technology, Laws and Applied Linguistics.

Introducing Georgia State University with its multidisciplinary characteristics, which were similar to those of VNU’s, President Mark Becker affirmed that the two parties had many advantages to deploy cooperation in training and research in the fields of mutual interests.

GSU Associate Provost for International Initiatives Wolfgang Schlör introduced a summer course for lecturers, which aimed to help participants boost their pedagogical skills when teaching in English. Additionally, according to Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Risa Palm, another strength of GSU was that the university used Big Data to analyze and research on learners’ choice in an attempt to support them in making more accurate choices in relation to the university’s admissions and training.

Speaking at the working session, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son believed that the above information would help both universities not only in enhancing mutual understanding but also in providing a platform for further specific cooperative activities in the coming time.
