VNU UEB’s International Conference on Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Management
On October 6, 2012, VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU UEB) and Asian CORE Program, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Nagoya University co-organized the International Conference on Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Management.

This conference is in the series of annual conferences under the Asian CORE Program with the participation of scholars, researchers and experts from Japan, China, Korea and Vietnam as well as the representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), etc.         
VNU UEB Rector, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Hồng Sơn opened the conference by specifying that the conference aims at providing valuable experiences to Vietnamese policy advisors and implementers through concrete results of the scientific researches on environmental management for sustainable manufacturing, optimizing the supply chain distribution system for production and business activities, and promoting the initiatives of sustainable development cooperation between Vietnam and other South Asian countries, especially Japan.
In his welcome speech, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Kim Sơn – VNU Vice President said that the conference is a platform for delegates, scholars and researchers to meet and discuss various issues related to sustainable manufacturing and environmental management while enhancing the development of academic and research collaboration among various universities and research institutions of participating countries. In particular, the objective of the conference is conformed to VNU’s development strategy of becoming a comprehensive interdisciplinary research university, a think-tank centre providing policy consultancy for the Government and the industries of Vietnam.
At the conference, national and international scientists not only indicate the important role of sustainable manufacturing and environmental management but also suggest suitable solutions for related issues, opening cooperation prospects between Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries in the field of environmental protection.
