VNU Vietnam - Japan University - The symbol of strategic relationship
VNU Vietnam - Japan University is a high interdisciplinary university of top class in Asia, with the organic transfer and linkage with the VNU member units and subordinate units, Vietnam enterprises, Vietnam - Japan Business Forum, the Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park. This university is expected to be a symbol of friendship and strategic cooperation in education, science and culture between Vietnam and Japan.

 

On 07.21.2014 the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1186/QD-TTg on establishing VNU Vietnam - Japan University. VNU Vietnam - Japan University is built in accordance with the model of the excellent university, based on the basic science and high-tech, in a close transfer and linkage with the higher education establishments of Vietnam and Japan. It is the symbol for the strategic relationship between VNU and the Japanese partners in particular and between Vietnam and Japan in general.

 

Vietnam - Japan University is a public university, under VNU, operating with high autonomy, is a non-profit organization, operating under the mode of giving priority to socialization of resources; is the typical model for a research university, the applications can be closely linked with enterprises. VNU Vietnam - Japan University is basically built and operated by ODA fund of  the Japanese Government, with its head office located in the Hòa Lạc urban area and built on a total area of ​​75 hectares with a total investment of more than US $ 365 million, in which US $200 million comes from Japanese ODA, US $ 13.39 million grant aid  comes from the Japanese government, $ 52 million  of reciprocal capital from the Vietnamese government and $ 100 million from the source of capital with Japanese enterprises’ cooperation.

 

VNU Vietnam - Japan University will provide human resources and research results of high quality, contributing to the increase in competitive factors and the development of knowledge economy of both Vietnam and Japan. The university aims to be classified in the group of 50 leading universities in Asia by 2025.

According to the plan in 2016, VNU Vietnam - Japan University starts the master program with enrollments of 70 students. In 2018, bachelor programs will be opened with a size of 590 students (150 bachelors and 440 masters). The doctorate training program will be opened with the size of 1,170 participants, students and post-graduates. By 2025, VNU Vietnam - Japan University will reach a stable size of 6,000 students and researchers (3,760 undergraduates, 1,800 masters, 440 PhDs).

 

VNU Vietnam - Japan University is planning to open these majors: global health science, agricultural biosciences science, industrial biochemistry, international biological engineering, international energy science, information technology, infrastructure and construction, climate change, engineering response to natural disasters, scientists and industry knowledge, technical automotive industry, industrial materials, information, technology, and social Asia Society, environmental urban studies, sustainable science and global leadership, public policy, comparative law and political science, Japanese and contemporary Asian social sciences and,  logistic and supply chain management, production management and lean administration. In addition, there are training programs in language and culture of Japan.

The training programs of VNU Vietnam - Japan University are regional inspection agencies and international and recognized by foreign prestigious university.


Vietnam - Japan University operates under the University Charter; Decision No. 64/2013/QD-TTg of November 11 of the Prime Minister, 2013, stipulating the conditions and procedures for establishment or permission for establishment or training, suspension from training, and merger, separation, split-up and dissolution of universities and academies; the Regulation on organization and operation of VNU and the Regulations on organization and activities of the University issued by the Prime Minister.
