VNU has decided to use a unified competence assessment test for year 2015 university admission consideration. Candidates applying for admission to VNU are to take a competence assessment test either in May, 2015 or in August, 2015.

The test is done on the computer in standard testing rooms. The test-takers get their scores right after the test completion. According to statistics, there were 45,350 candidates registering for the first administration of the test. Each test-taker does a separate set of test items grouped by the computer from the test item database.

Addressing the press, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Kim Sơn, Head of VNU 2015 Admission Steering Committee, said that the number of candidates registered for May 30^th morning competence assessment test alone was over 6,500; the number of test-takers was nearly 6,300 accounting for 95.52%; the number of test-takers for the foreign language test was 13,250 accounting for 90.79% of the 14,950 registered candidates.

With a key and pioneering role in renovating Vietnam higher education system, VNU has taken, is taking and will take breakthrough steps in the training activity. Comprehensive competence assessment is an advanced admission method applied in many major education systems worldwide. This is a method to ensure the selection of those candidates who are capable of learning, logical thinking, reasoning, analyzing and synthesizing knowledge.
