VNU and Wallonie - Bruxelles: Cooperation in Science & Technology Research and Transfer
On November 19, 2015, VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ had a working session with Ms Pascale Delcomminette – Director-General of Wallonia Brussels International (WBI), Director-General of the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX).

 

Attending the meeting, for the Belgium side were Ms Anne Lange – Chief representative of the French-speaking Community of Belgium and Wallonia Region in Vietnam and Ms Solange De Harlez, Southeast Asia Department Director-General - in charge of Vietnam at WBI. For VNU side were VNU Vice President Lê Quân, heads of VNU’s functional departments, leaders of VNU’s affiliates, managers of the approved projects within the Cooperation progarm with Wallonia Region.

VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ extended his thanks to Ms Pascale Delcomminette and the Wallonie – Bruxelles Delegation for their supporting VNU in academic, research and student exchange activities.

During the 9th meeting of the Standing Joint Committee between Vietnam and the French-speaking Community of Belgium in Vietnam, VNU had four projects approved within the Cooperation program with Wallonia Region (among the 18 projects approved in Vietnam). VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ would like Wallonie-Bruxelles to further support VNU, especially in the joint training and research activities as well as providing exchange scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.

 

 

Extending her thanks to VNU’s leaders for their respectful welcome, Ms Pascale Delcomminette expressed her wish to cooperate and share experience with Vietnam, especially with VNU in the areas of mutual interest.

Focusing on the triangular cooperation model: government - university - enterprise and technology transfer in 6 fields: processing technology, life sciences, aerospace, mechanical engineering, environment and green economy, Ms Pascale Delcomminette believed that the approved cooperation projects between VNU and Wallonie - Bruxelles would soon bring about practical results, thus supporting the two nations’ economic and social  development. The Belgium side will attend to the contacting and connecting of VNU to the science-technology managing bodies and research centres in Wallonie - Bruxelles.

 

 

Chairing the meeting with the Negotiation delegation of the Standing Joint Committee between Vietnam and the French-speaking Community of Belgium in Vietnam on the approved projects, VNU Vice President Lê Quân emphasized that VNU always gave priority to developing cooperation with localities and enterprises in commercializing scientific products to contribute to the promoting of the country’s economic and social development. The currently selected cooperative activities focusing on important issues, both challange and promote the two sides’ needs and strengths. VNU Vice President hoped that the cooperation would be fruitful, thus creeating useful commercialized and transferred products.
