The 2017 International Physics Olympiad features a Gold Medalist from HUS High School for Gifted Students
Vietnam five-contestant team at the 2017 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Indonesia won four gold and one silver medals, placing Vietnam 5th, behind China, South Korea, Russia and Singapore.

On July 23, 2017, Vietnam Physics Olympiad Team achieved outstanding results in the 48th International Physics Olympiad held in the Republic of Indonesia from July 16 to July 24, 2017.

All five Vietnam team members won medals at the competition, including four golds and one silver.

Tạ Bá Dũng, a 12th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students, won a gold medal. Three other 12th graders: Đinh Anh Dũng from Hà Nội-Amsterdam High School, Nguyễn Thế Quỳnh from Võ Nguyên Giáp High School for the Gifted (Quảng Bình province) and Trần Hữu Bình Minh from Phan Bội Châu High School for the Gifted (Nghệ An province) were also gold medalists.

Phan Tuấn Linh from Phan Bội Châu High School for the Gifted (Nghệ An province) won a silver medal.

Especially, Nguyễn Thế Quỳnh won the gold medal at the International Physics Olympiad for the second time in a row.

To date in 2017, the Olympiad contestants from HUS High School for Gifted Students have won one gold medal in Physics and two gold medals in Chemistry.
