VNU and MPEI: Developing training cooperation in the field of energy
On July 25, 2017, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn welcomed and had a working session with Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI) Vice Rector Vladimir N.Zamolodchikov.

Speaking at the meeting, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn confirmed that VNU always supported and facilitated all the member universities and affliated schools to implement co-operative activities with MPEI in particular and international partners in general. The President also hoped that the two sides would continue to discuss and consider the developing of joint training programs and study the potentiality of producing core human resources for the society to soon gain common achievements.

At the meeting, the report on the English-instructed joint Bachelor Program in Computer Science and Engineering between VNU International School and MPEI, which was scheduled to be launched this September, was presented. The jointly developed program aims to train engineers in Computer Science and Engineering with a strong foundation in basic science, mathematics, electrical and electronic science. Under the program, students can choose to study full-time in Vietnam to receive the VNU degree; or to study the first 2-3 years in Vietnam and the rest in the Russian Federation to get the MPEI degree.

MPEI’s Vice Rector Vladimir N.Zamolodchikov announced the plan to implement four new English-instructed master programs, including: Protection, automation and comprehensive control over power systems; Operation and management of environmentally safe thermal power plants; Quantum and Optical Electronics; Sustainable Thermal and Energy Systems. The Vice Rector hoped that besides the ongoing cooperative activities, VNU and MPEI would develop joint post graduate programs upgraded from the named master programs.

VNU University of Engineering and Techonology recommended to build a joint master program in energy with MPEI. The two universities would discuss the cooperation details and sign a cooperation implementation agreement.

Also, during the meeting, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn and MPEI Vice Rector Vladimir N.Zamolodchi discussed and recommended the following bilateral cooperation prospects: implementing bachelor programs taught in English; scholarship programs for students; supporting activities in building an energy laboratory at VNU University of Engineering and Techonology...
