Promoting Social work education and training with Japanese partners
On October 4, 2017, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn had a meeting with Shukutoku University (Japan) President.

Chairman, President of Shukutoku University Masatoshi Hasegawa expressed his appreciation for the long-term partnership between Daijo Shukutoku Gakuen Educational Association and Shukutoku University with VNU and would like to cooperate in training as well as faculty and student exchange with VNU. He put an emphasis on three priority majors, including Buddhist Social Work, Physical Education and Nursing.

VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn asserted that VNU always supported and wished to promote the cooperation between the two universities. He hoped that in 2018 and the years to come, the two sides would cooperate in the areas proposed by Prof. Masatoshi Hasegawa.

Buddhist social work is developed not only in East Asian countries like Japan but also in Southeast Asia. Emphasizing that this field was an important direction for cooperation development in the region, VNU President said that it was necessary to organize short training courses to share experience and skills in the future. These training courses will focus on the following targeted groups: workers in the field of Buddhism in need of both social work skills and knowledge of Buddhism; social work graduates requiring training in Buddhist ideology; and workers in the field of Buddhism, who lack social work skills.
