The 2018 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) features a gold medalist from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students

The seven Vietnamese students participating in the 2018 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad have all won medals including one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Four out of the medalists were from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students, namely Phạm Đức Thắng - gold medalist, Nguyễn Khánh and Nguyễn Minh Tùng - silver medalists; and Nguyễn Hoàng Hải Minh - bronze medalist.

The other medalists were Hoàng Xuân Nhật from the High School for Gifted Students under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City – silver medalist; Trịnh Hữu Gia Phúc from Lam Sơn High School for Gifted Students (Thanh Hóa province) - silver medalist; and Dương Quốc Hưng from Thăng Long High School for Gifted Students (Lâm Đồng province) - bronze medalist.

At the 2018 Asian-Pacific Olympiad, 187 contestants from 31 countries and territories were qualified for prize consideration. A total of 87 contestants won medals, accounting for 46.52%.
