Kick-off meeting of “SEA-Plastic-Edu” ERASMUS+ Project in Laos and Vietnam
The international project "Plastic Management and Recycling" with the participation of 6 universities from 5 countries together with European Union and Vietnam organizations was launched on May 23. VNU University of Science is honored to be a member of this important project.

In particular, the project will focus on enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese and Laotian universities in providing high quality academic education; improving the employability and entrepreneurial spirit of the students; and connecting the academic and industrial world in the field of waste management.

Modernization of the existing curriculums is the prominence of the project. Courses based on environmental sciences are offered, such as Materials Science; Engineering Technology: Plastic Waste Collecting Options, Emission control Technology, and other majors. In particular, two regional training centers for people working in the plastic recycling industry have been established under this project.

Experts from VNU University of Science will be trained to instruct the trainees in operating the machines and necessary equipment in the field of plastic recycling. VNU University of Science will also provide the needed facilities for online training. Hopefully, the project will bring about effective methods of plastic management and recycling in Vietnam while improving the environment.

VNU University of Science Rector Nguyễn Văn Nội:

This project is to be implemented within 3 years, from 2017 to 2020. Among the participating partners, there are two countries in Southeast Asia: Vietnam and Laos; three countries from Europe including Denmark, Germany and Austria. This project aims to raise public awareness; improve the use of biodegradable plastics; enhance the capacity of early classification; and improve plastics recycling and reusing ability.
