Tsinghua University Council Chairperson visits VNU
On June 18, 2018, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn welcomed and had a working session with Tsinghua University Council Chairperson Chen Xu.

Speaking at the meeting, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn expressed his pleasure to meet and work with Mrs. Chen Xu at VNU during her first visit to Vietnam. Sending his congratulations to Tsinghua University – A China leading university steadily climbing in the World University Rankings, on its recent achievements, he stated that the cooperative activities between the two leading universities should be further promoted to make the best use of their potentials and strengths.

VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn suggested such upcoming cooperation and exchange activities as coordinating research on Chinese Studies and Vietnamese Studies; Tsinghua University’s  supporting NVU’s Chinese research program in terms of training materials and academic activities; exchanging experts and lecturers in such fields as Aerospace, Materials, Electronics, Administration, Social Sciences & Humanities; exchanging students through short-term training courses or internship programs; offering joint graduate training programs in English in the fields of Finance, Administration ...; sharing course materials, digital databases for research ...

At the meeting, Mrs. Chen Xu principally agreed with the cooperation activities proposed by VNU President. She said that in China, in addition to government and local scholarships, Tsinghua University also offered scholarships for undergraduates and graduates. Besides regular training courses and student exchanges, there are summer schools, sports competitions, internships... Tsinghua University welcomes the participation of VNU in these activities. Tsinghua University will soon launch its specific programs.

The leaders of the two universities have agreed to further discuss the cooperation details towards the signing of a bilateral agreement.

In 2018, Tsinghua University was ranked 17th in the QS World University Rankings and the 30th by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
