VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students contestant wins a gold medal and honoured as the “First Winner” at the 29th International Biology Olympiad
Nguyễn Phương Thảo, a 12th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students, won a gold medal and was honoured as the “First Winner” of the contest for gaining the highest score among the 261 candidates at the 29th International Biology Olympiad.

All the four Vietnamese contestants at the 29th International Biology Olympiad held in Iran won medals, including three golds and a silver.

The gold medalists are Nguyễn Phương Thảo, a 12th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students; Trần Thị Minh Anh, a 12th grader from Trần Phú High School for Gifted Students in Hai Phong city; and Hoàng Minh Trung, an 11th grader from  Lam Sơn High School for Gifted Students in Thanh Hoa province.

The silver medalist is Hoàng Văn Đông, a 12th grader from Nguyễn Trãi High School for Gifted Students in Hai Duong province.

According to the 29th IBO’s contestant rankings, Nguyễn Phương Thảo came as the “First Winner” of the contest; Trần Thị Minh Anh came 9th, Hoàng Minh Trung - 19th and Hoàng Văn Đông - 64th.

The 29th IBO was held in Iran with the participation of 261 contestants from 71 countries and territories.
