VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn delivered a speech

VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

“HUS High School for Gifted Students is an important cradle for talent cultivating.  The school’s students are precious stones and the teachers in this school must be pearl shapers”, VNU President affirmed.

VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn said that the first thing the students needed to do was to build up love, especially to avoid being haughty or self-satisfied. "The medals that you may get from this school are gifts of the game and just the starting point of a long journey”.

"And the special thing that you need to do is to set your vision, to nurture a great ambition. The level of success in one’s career depends on many factors, including personal qualities, circumstances, especially one’s will”, VNU President said.

At the ceremony, HUS High School for Gifted Students Principal Lê Công Lợi said that the school was one of the outstanding institutions in the country that trained gifted students in natural sciences and that the school gradually affirmed its position as a prestigious high school in the region and the world.

Also according to the principal, in 2018, the School’s students gained various medals including three golds, one silver and one bronze at the International Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Olympiads. In particular, Nguyễn Phương Thảo won a gold medal and was honoured as the “First Winner” at the 29th International Biology Olympiad held in Iran.

The success of the students and alumni from HUS High School for Gifted Students is the most convincing evidence for the success of the talent training model that is being successfully and effectively conducted in VNU as well as for the right, creative and unique training policy that is being paid special attention to by the Party and State.

Within the framework of the ceremony, leaders of VNU, VNU University of Science and HUS High School for Gifted Students presented awards to the students with excellent achievements.
