IOI 2018 features three medalists from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students
The 2018 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) was held from September 1 to September 7, 2018 in Tsukuba, Japan. All the four Vietnamese participants won medals including one gold, one silver and two bronzes.

The gold medal went to Phạm Đức Thắng, a 12th grader from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students; the two bronze medals came to Nguyễn Hoàng Hải Minh and Nguyễn Khánh, 12th graders from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students.

Hoàng Xuân Nhật from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, won a silver medal.

Earlier on, Phạm Đức Thắng won the only gold medal for the Vietnamese team at the 2018 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

The IOI 2018 attracted 335 candidates from 87 countries worldwide. Statistically, the Vietnamese team ranked 12th, the same position as that of Japan’s team.
