The gold medal went to Phạm Đức Thắng, a 12th grader from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students; the two bronze medals came to Nguyễn Hoàng Hải Minh and Nguyễn Khánh, 12^th graders from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students.

Hoàng Xuân Nhật from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, won a silver medal.

Earlier on, Phạm Đức Thắng won the only gold medal for the Vietnamese team at the 2018 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

The IOI 2018 attracted 335 candidates from 87 countries worldwide. Statistically, the Vietnamese team ranked 12^th, the same position as that of Japan’s team.
