The fair, organized in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, attracted a lot of students’ attention to 8 Irish educational institutions including University College Dublin, the University of Limerick, University College Cork, Waterford Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Carlow, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, the National College of Ireland and Limerick Institute of Technology. These institutions offer a variety of majors, some of which are more or less the same as VNU's training programs, such as Pharmacy, Medical Biology, Business, Agriculture, Law, Engineering, and Information technology.

This is the first fair organized by Enterprise Ireland and the second fair on Ireland higher education in Vietnam. The first fair was held in 2017 by the Irish Embassy in Vietnam.

Enterprise Ireland Asia Regional Manager Elizabeth Mc Henry said studying and working abroad was important in the context of globalization. Ireland not only provides international students with a good study environment but also offers them opportunities to work at large corporations based in Ireland.

 In recent years, the educational cooperation between Vietnam and Ireland has grown rapidly and become an important factor promoting Vietnam's sustainable development as well as bilateral relations between the two countries. Since 2007, the Irish Government has awarded many scholarships to Vietnamese students. Along with the rise in the number of pupils and students who have chosen Ireland as a place of study, the Vietnamese international student community in Ireland, formed in 2012, has reached over 200 members so far. This community acts as a bridge to connect the two societies as well as promotes the image of Ireland and Vietnam.

Cooperation between VNU and the Irish education entities has been implemented in many ways, which not only opens up opportunities for VNU students and young staff to exchange and improve their academic skills, but also develops strongly through research programs and exchange of experience in developing higher education. This has contributed to the formation of new training programs in Vietnam.

Recently, the Irish Government’s funding has strengthened cooperation between VNU and Irish partners such as University College Cork and University College Dublin (within the framework of VIBE project). Along with that, Enterprise Ireland and VNU also coordinated the ceremonies to welcome the Irish President, Prime Minister and many leaders of Irish universities to visit VNU and exchange with its students.

Speaking at the event, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son expressed his belief that the Ireland Higher Education Fair would not only open up a resourceful and insightful treasure of opportunities for our students but also be a milestone, an immediate effort to tighten the diplomatic ties and the friendship between the two countries.

Previously, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son had welcomed the representatives of the eight Irish universities. These educational institutions were to have a meeting with students from the High School of Education Sciences, VNU University of Education, on November 8, 2019.
