Vietnamese students win the International Invention and Innovation Award in Malaysia
A team of five 11th graders from the High School for Gifted Students under VNU University of Science won the Silver Medal at the Invention and Innovation Awards 2020 held within the framework of the 19th Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE 2020), which took place in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 22 February 2020.

The theme of this year’s exhibition was "Building a sustainable aquaculture system."

In today’s context, the extreme weather caused by climate change has significantly affected production industries, including aquaculture. This field has felt such inevitable impacts as temperature change, drought, acid rain …

Being aware of the problem, the students came up with the idea of creating a stable farming system to improve production and quality of seafood, minimizing environmental impacts.

To achieve the set goals, the team investigated the environmental factors affecting aquatic organisms, such as temperature, dissolved oxygen in water, pH level, etc. Although the method of measuring these physical quantities is simple, the team encountered a number of difficulties measuring them in a large area. Thus, they created sensors for measuring the quantities in a large body of water. In more urgent situations, FlyCam technology will help the user get informed of the actual situation of the farming area.

The Malaysia Technology Expo 2020, organized by the Professional Trade Exhibition and Meeting Planners in collaboration with Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, took place from February 19 to February 22 at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition attracted nearly 600 creative inventions from more than 20 countries and territories including Croatia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Iran, Taiwan, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam ... and Malaysia, the host.
