VNU Chapter of Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association: An intellectual linkage between the two countries
On May 26, 2020, President of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association Tran Binh Minh signed Decision No. 28 /QD-VNTU on the recognition of the leadership of VNU Chapter of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association and Decision No. 29/QD-VNTU on the approval of the Organization and Operation Regulations of the Chapter.

Accordingly, the Chapter leadership includes Prof.Dr.Sc. Nguyen Dinh Duc - President; Prof.Dr., People's Teacher Nguyen Thi My Loc (former Rector of VNU University of Education, Chairman of the Professor Title Council for Education Studies) - Vice President; Lieutenant-general, Prof.Dr., People's Teacher Nguyen Xuan Yem (former Director of the People's Police Academy, Director of the Centre for  Non-Traditional Security Management Science  under VNU School of Business and Management) – Vice-President.

Managed by the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, the leadership of VNU chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association shall be responsible for operating the Chapter in accordance with the approved Organization and Operation Regulations, the Code of Conduct of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association and the relevant provisions of law.

Previously, on December 26, 2019, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association Central Committee issued Decision No. 73/QD-VNTU on the establishment of VNU Chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, which is a direct subordinate of the Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association Central Committee.

This is an important event to further promote the traditional cooperation between the two strategic partners Vietnam and the Russian Federation and to especially promote cooperation in training, research and technology transfer between VNU along with its member units and higher education institutions of the Russian Federation; between scientists, teachers of VNU and their Russian counterparts. With thousands of leading professors, scientists, and intellectuals who have studied and worked in the former Soviet Union and now the Russian Federation, VNU Chapter of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association has a very special position and will certainly have an important and worthy contribution to the maintenance and promotion of cooperation between the two nations and two peoples.

As scheduled, in 2020, the Chapter in collaboration with VNU’s member universities and affiliated schools is going to organize a series of Russia-related activities. To be specific, the Chapter in collaboration with VNU University of Foreign Languages and International Studies will hold the 65th  Anniversary of Russian language teaching in Vietnam; with VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities to organize an international seminar on the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam - Russia cooperation and friendship; and with VNU International School and the Russian Reading Room at the School to organize an exchange day for former Vietnamese students in the Soviet Union, Russian students in Vietnam and those who love Russia, Russian and the Russian culture on the last Saturday afternoon of every month and other activities to promote cooperation between VNU and its Russian partners.
