H.E. Mr Yamada Takio - new Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam: To further promote extensive cooperation agreements with VNU
On the occasion of his taking office in Vietnam, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Yamada Takio paid a courtesy visit and worked with VNU President Nguyen Kim Son.

Expressing the pleasure of working in Vietnam and highly appreciating the development of VNU through the regional and world rankings in recent years, during his term, the Ambassador hopes to contribute to the good relations with VNU in particular and Vietnam in general.

On this occasion, the leader of VNU reviewed the outstanding achievements in education and training cooperation between VNU and Japan over the past years and the effective support from the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and proposed new issues of cooperation in the coming time.

Specifically, President Nguyen Kim Son said that VNU currently had 32 member units including universities and research institutes, of which Vietnam - Japan University (VJU) was the newest. VNU has a comprehensive partnership with the University of Tokyo in Japan, while VNU's affiliates have also established good relationships with Japanese partners.

Regarding the Vietnam - Japan University Project that the two governments are promoting, VNU VJU has offered 4 courses at master’s level and is currently recruiting students for the 2020 Bachelor’s Program in Japanese Studies. In the coming time, VNU will continue to urge the Vietnamese Government to approve the special financial mechanism for Vietnam - Japan University.

On this occasion, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son invited the Ambassador to join the Vietnam - Japan University Council to replace his predecessor. In addition, VNU President hoped that Japan could provide technical assistance for TC2 Project, which is Phase 2 of the Technical Cooperation Project between Japan International Cooperation Agency and VNU Vietnam - Japan University to improve VNU VJU’s capacity of training, researching and university governance.

Expressing his gratitude to VNU for its dedication to the Vietnam - Japan University Project, H.E. Ambassador Yamada Takio totally agreed with the proposals from VNU and hoped that the two countries would soon loosen their travel restrictions due to the COVID-2019 epidemic to soon realize these proposals.
