Various VNU’s lecturers and scientists are presented prestigious awards, namely:

Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh - Dean of VNU School of Medicine and Pharmacy and Prof. Dr. Tran Binh Giang – the school Vice Dean, received two first prizes at the 2019 Vietnamese Talent Awards in the field of Medicine – Pharmacy.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Loc - Chairman of VNU-UED Science and Training Council, one of the 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in all areas of life, won the 2019 Vietnamese Women’s Award for her positive contributions to social development.

In 2019, 7 VNU’s individuals were awarded Labour Medals including 1 First Class, 2 Second Class, 4 Third Class; 1 team and 4 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 1 team and 4 individuals received 72 Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training, 25 ministry-level emulators and 8 ministry-level emulation flags.

The Kovalevskaia award 2019 by Vietnam Women’s Union was presented to a team of female lecturers from the Department of Environmental Technology, Faculty of Environment Science, VNU University of Science.

In 2019, PLOS Biology journal published the list of the world's 100,000 most-cited scientists for the period of 1996 to 2017. The list features three scientists from VNU, namely Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (Director of the Laboratory for Advanced Materials and Structures - VNU University of Engineering and Technology, Director of VNU Academic Affairs Department); Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet (Director of the Centre for Environmental Technology and Sustainable Development (CETASD) – VNU University of Science); and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Son from the Office of Multimedia Technology and Virtual Reality Research – VNU Institute of Information Technology).
