VNU VJU researchers involved in development of the draft Law on Environment Protection 2020

MCCD’s researcher group involved in Chapter VII – Response to climate change which includes 38 articles, of which some articles are completely new and first being anticipated in the Law. These new articles, drafted in reference to regional and international laws include Climate Security; Climate risk assessment; Climate change Monitoring and Warning; Regional exchange and interrelations in response to climate change.

The Vietnam Japan University research group includes Prof. Mai Trong Nhuan - Team leader, senior expert, PhD. Nguyen Van Quang - expert on climate change; Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Duyen - Environmental specialist; Dr. Akihiko Kotera – Consultant on Climate Change Law in Japan and Bui Thi Hoa - Secretary. In the project summary meeting with attendance from the Science, Technology and Environment sector of the National Assembly (Represented by Chairman Phan Xuan Dung), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Representative is Minister Tran Hong Ha) and VJU’s research group, the chairman highly appreciated VJU experts’ contributions for their draft provisions in the revised Law. Many comments made by the experts have been incorporated into the draft revised law.

In May, MCCD’s lecturers also joined in the Working Group to work on "Climate change and natural disasters in Can Tho city: Current situation, views and solutions" to serve at the "Sustainable development of Can Tho city to 2030, vision to 2045" conference by the Central Economic Committee. By this assessment, experts propose solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change related disasters of Can Tho City for its sustainable development.
