Organized by: Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), Kyoto University (KU), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Vietnam Petroleum Cooperation (PVN), Vietnam Union of Geological Sciences (VUGS)
Introduction
Hanoi Geoengineering 2013 continues on the basis of the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010 symposiums, which have become a regular international event to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, as jointly organized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Asian Institute of Technology in close collaboration with other overseas and national partners. For the symposiums in 2010 and 2013 Kyoto University is one of the main partners. The Hanoi Geoengineering symposium is aimed at fostering a better communication and collaboration between the academic and industrial sector in the fields of Geoengineering and Geoenvironment.
Theme of the Hanoi Geo-Engineering 2013 Symposium is “Natural Resources Engineering & Disaster Mitigation for Infrastructure Development”. The theme clearly reflects the interests as well as the importance of interdisciplinary researches and education to solve the geological, geotechnical, geoenvironmental and geophysical problems, which are closely related with the issue of natural resources, climate change and natural disaster.
The symposium includes one day of plenary and poster sessions (at Nguy Nhu Kontum Conference Hall, VNU, No. 19 Le Thanh Tong, Hanoi, Vietnam) and two day field-trip to visit landslide hazards in Mai Chau, Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam.
