11. Summary of major findings:

- The dissertation is an in-depth and systematical research based on interdisciplinary approach of modern area studies on the formation and development of the Viet community in Dalat from the beginning of the twentieth century up to now.

- The dissertation provides a source of materials on the formation and development of the Viet community in the Dalat, including archives and field materials

- The dissertation sets new lights on the driven and the pulling forces which have built motivations of groups of Viet people who came to Dalat in each historical periods, especially in the period from 1954 to 1975, not only influenced by economic and social factors, but also influenced by military and religious factors. That is what the world’s migration theories have not mentioned before.

- It has been pointed out in the dissertation that each group of Viet people who came from different regions of the country has brought with them cultural characteristics and features of their locality, and thus contributed in creating a cultural marks of the Viet community in Dalat.

- The dissertation clarifies the increasingly important role of the Viet community for the development of Dalat city in the past as well as today.

- The research results contribute to identifying the changing trend of the Viet community in the context of sustainable development of Dalat in particular, Lam Dong and Tay Nguyen in general.

- The research results presented in the dissertation also contribute to a more complete and profound identification of the Viet community’s adaptation and integration in Dalat, which can turn all they have into international competitive advantages, which are very necessary in the period of active integration into the world.

12. Applicability:

- The dissertation proposes a number of solutions for policy making that will contribute to the creation of Viet community development policies in the context of sustainable development of Dalat Ecotourism City.

- The findings may be helpful for the education and research of urban population toward an interdisciplinary approach of modern area study.

13. Further Research Directions:

1) Changes in culture and lifestyle of the Dalat people today;

2) Changes in social psychology of population groups in Dalat under the influence of modernization;

3) Changes in residential environment of Dalat people under the influence of modernization;

4) Changes in occupation, labor and employment of female migrant workers in Dalat.
