11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

- The thesis clarifies the factors leading to the formation of the English East India Company in 1600.

- Clarifying the penetration process and operation of the English East India Company in comparison with the Western maritime powers (Netherlands, France) in Siam Kingdom in the seventeenth century.

- Clarifying the cause leading to the failure of the English East India Company in the commercial activity in Siam Kingdom in the seventeenth century.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The dissertation makes readers aware the activity history of the English East India Company in Siam Kingdom in the seventeenth century from the inception to set up formal relations to the decision to closebusiness and leave; and analyzing activity characteristics of the English East India Company in the seventeenth century in comparison with other Western powers such as the Netherlands and France. Also, clarifying the clever response of the Siamese government when facing the Western nations’ increasing influence, shaping the flexible diplomacy of the Siamese court between the eighteenth and nineteenth century in response to new challenges of the times.

The dissertation can be used as a reference material for MA, PhD students, researchers about trade history of Southeast Asia sea.
