11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The study draws some important conclusions:

International trade is an inescapable trend in today’s world. The expansion of global market enables commcercial products to develop at an astounding rate. The nomination of commercial products, therefore, becomes an interdisciplinary subject involving many fields: symbolism, nationalism, aesthetica, psychology, socio-culturalism. The abundance of nominations of two products namely wine and tea make them typical names of numerous commercial goods. In the doctoral thesis, a number of research methods are employed such as survey, statistics, compare-contrast so as to study characteristics of nomiations of the two products in Chinese and Vietnamese. The body of thesis falls into three main chapters. Chapter 1 is titled “Literature review and theoretical framework”. It summarizes achievements of previous research conducted in China and Vietnam, thereby pointing out the viewpoint of researcher. This chapter also synthesizes theories including nomination, especially nomination of products, notion of goods, brands and language comparison in order to provide the foundation for the thesis. Chapter 2 is named “Linguistic features of nominations of two commercial products namely wine and tea in Chinese and Vietnamese”. The focus of this chapter is mainly on speech sounds, lexical and grammatical resources, semantics, and nominations of tea and wine so as to highlight key features and to compare similarities and differences of tea and wine in Chinese and Vietnamese from linguistic perspective. Chapter 3 is called “Implicature of cultural traditions and practical application of nominations of tea and wine in Chinese and Vietnamese”. It clarifies the significance of culture implied in nominations of tea and wine in Chinese and Vietnamese and makes comparison between two languages. Therefore, the artisitics and practicality of tea and wine become much remarkable. It comes to the conclusion that there are many similarities and differences in terms of linguistics between nominations of wine and tea in Chinese and Vietnamese, and nominations of Chinese tea and wine are much more remarkable than those of Vietnamese. Besides two common components that constitute nominations of Chinese tea and wine, two or three exceptional elements also play a part. While nominations of Chinese tea and wine are highly evocative, those of Vietnamese simply refer to the location of producer and raw materials. Overal, nominations of both Chinese and Vietnamese tea and wine imply cutural traditions and linguistic features of Chinese and Vietnamese people.

12. Practical applicability:

- Research results provide a theoretical basis for naming commercial products, especially wine and tea.

- The research is of great use in teaching and studying Chinese language, especially course design.

13. Suggestions for research directions:

-Continue to deepen the study of nominations of beverages in Chinese and Vietnamese
