7. Official thesis title: "Simultaneous analysis of nitro aromatic compounds by Voltammetric method combined with the multivariate regression".

8. Major: Analytical chemistry                             9. Code: 62 44 01 18

10. Supervisors: PGS.TS. Ta Thi Thao

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

Successful setting up process of simultaneous analysis of nitro aromatic compounds  including nitrobenzene, 2-nitrophenol, 3-nitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol, dinitrotoluene and trinitrotoluene by Voltammetric method (HMDE electrode)  combined with the multivariate regression such as Partial Least Square (PLS) and Principal Component Regression (PCR). This procedure allows analysis with their simultaneous presence in water without separation of types.

Complete removal of the effect of the sample background by building a multivariate regression model with real sample background. Relative standard errors of the method in both PLS and PCR models are less than 10%.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

It can be used to quickly analyze selected nitro aromatic compounds including nitrobenzene, 2-nitrophenol, 3-nitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol, dinitrotoluene and trinitro toluene that are present simultaneously in water samples, especially for control pollution in the environs of ammunition plants at military areas.

13. Further research directions, if any:

New research will be paid on simultaneous determination other aromatic nitro compounds such as pesticides containing nitrogen or other explosive groups in the environs of ammunition plants at military areas... in more complex objects such as soil, air or biological and food samples. In addition, it is possible to study the simultaneous analysis of electrochemical active compounds on hanging mercury drop electrode that are not aromatic ring nitro compounds by Voltammetric method combined with multivariate regression.
