11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The new findings of the dissertationlie ina contrastive analysis of the verbscontaining the на-, про- prefixes in Russianin a chronological and systematic way  and map out ways to convey their meanings in Vietnamese.Hence, major similarities and differences between the two Russian and Vietnamese languages have also been portrayed. Finally, the study has drawn some of the following important conclusions:

1) Russian and Vietnamese are two different languages in terms of forms as Russian is a derivational language, in contrast, Vietnamese as a non-derivational one. Despite their discrepancies in form and structure, the two languages share their resemblances in logical and connotational meanings. Hence, their similarities in meaningsare the bases for a contrastive analysis of the means of expressing them in the two languages.

2) In Russian, prefix is a type of aspect-formation and word-formation. It is estimated that there are roughlywidely used20 prefixes with different connotational meanings. There are prefixes that will create certain modes of actions or form the verbs of the perfect aspect when combined with verbs of semantic groups. However, thisstudy only focuses on typical features, functions of word-formation, semantic structures, contextual meanings and definite modes of actions of the two prefixes.

3) The semantic structure of any verbs containing prefixes is comprised of the meaning of the prefix, the root verb and contextsdetermined by nouns, discourse and suffix -xia - the factors affecting the meaning of the verb containing that prefix.

4) The most significant contribution of this study is to map out ways of conveying a large volume of meanings of Russian verbs containing the на-, про- prefixes in Vietnamese. This is a very important contribution to teaching Russian in Vietnam. The difference in the ways of expressing the meaning of verbs when combined with the two prefixesbetween Russian and Vietnamese depends heavily on the features of the two languages. If in Russian, the semantic system of this verb group is expressed primarily by the prefix with the clues of contexts, in Vietnamese it is expressed by a combination of the verb with indicators of the nature of action with different means of context such as adverbs of degree, adverb of space, time, structures with direct modifiers and sometimes idioms, fixed phrases.

12. Practical applicability:

- The findings can be applied in teaching Russian as a foreign language in Vietnam; can be a reference for teaching methodology concerning verbs containing prefixes.

- The findings can be a reference for the compilation of ethnic-oriented textbooks (such as "Russian for Vietnamese people"); the compilation of Russian-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-Russian bilingual dictionaries to overcome common difficulties in teaching and learning Russian in the context of  non-native language environment; for translation of publications from Russia into Vietnam and vice versa.

13. Further research directions:

Contrastive analyses of other prefixes which are barriers for learners of Russian.
