11. Summary of the new findings of the dissertation:

The thesis is an intensive and systematic research project on Hanoi urban livelihoods based on the interdisciplinary approach and approach of the Area of Studies and Livelihoods Research. The study approaches in many dimensions, in the relationship between tradition and modernity.

The thesis has systematized the common theoretical basis for livelihoods, urban livelihoods and proposed new approaches for research on sustainable urban livelihoods.

The thesis pointed out the problems of livelihoods development in the current period and forecast the tendency in Hanoi urban livelihoods development in the future.

The thesis proposed a group of practical and feasible solutions to preserve and promote traditional livelihoods models, and to develop new livelihoods models suitable to the country's integration trend.

The thesis conducted a survey on current livelihoods models in three wards in Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi Old Quarter: Hang Dao, Hang Bac and Hang Buom.

The thesis proposed and selected a sustainable, effective and suitable livelihood model for three wards in Hoan Kiem district: Hang Dao, Hang Bac and Hang Buom.

-   The thesis is an important reference source for leaders, managers, businessmen to make policies, sustainable livelihoods models, to formulate construction policies, develop socio-economic development in the ancient urban area of Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general. This is also a reference source for training programs on Vietnamese Studies, Hanoi studies and livelihoods research.

12. Applicability:

- Orientating managers, policy makers to creating mechanisms, environment, opportunities and resources in order to motivate people in Hanoi to ensure their lives and become rich, sustainable economic development

-   Proposing recommendations and solutions for the sustainable development suitably and effectively to Hanoi urban livelihoods models in the integration process.

Sustainable, effective and appropriate livelihoods models in urban areas in the process of urbanization.
