11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The dissertation clarifies the role of social capital in science and technology activities: Case study of strong scientific working groups at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

On the basis of that argument, the thesis analyzes the specific goals, including:

1) Identify the characteristics of strong research groups and characteristics of social capital in scientific and technological activities;

2) Clarify the actual use of social capital in scientific and technological activities of strong research groups;

3) Evaluate the positive and negative effects of social capital in scientific and technological activities of strong research groups at Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

4) Valuable solutions to enrich the social capital source in science and technology activities, also reduce the negative effect of the social capital source.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

- This is the first research on social capital in science and technology activities in Vietnam. The scientific and practical arguments of this research can be used as a reference for further research on this topic, contributing to the development of science and technology in Vietnam, science and technology activities  in particular.

- The thesis has proposed a number of practical solutions to enrich social capital, promote positive impacts and limit negative impacts of social capital in scientific and technological activities of strong scientific working groups.
