11. Summary of the results of the thesis:

Through the research process, we have drawn some of the main conclusions as follows:

1726 headlines of People's Daily since the 21st century are investigated and analyzed in terms of words, grammatical structures, punctuation marks and rhetorical devices, and their characteristics are expounded. In addition, it also discusses the characteristic of the topic in the news headlines. The results show that news headlines consist of multiple language forms, including words, phrases, and sentences. Among them, the title in the form of sentence is more dominant. In terms of words, abbreviations, loanwords and new words are common in the headlines of People’s Daily News. Double quotation marks, question marks, exclamation marks, colons, commas, and dashes appear in the news headlines. Sometimes, punctuation also plays a certain rhetorical role. Metaphors include similes and metaphors, metonymy, analogy, antithesis, quotation, allusions, rankings, questionings. Also, rhetorical techniques are commonly used in news headlines. All of this is designed to make headlines more appealing to readers and to guide them through the newspaper.

We also investigate and analyze the current situation of the translation of news headlines in People's Daily. The results suggest that the translators have adopted literal translation, free translation, addition translation, reduction translation and transformation in the translation process. Most of the translations can meet the requirements of information transmission, but some have not successfully conveyed the content and form of the original text.

12. Applicability: Based on the results of the study, this article also relates to the reading and translation of newspapers and periodicals in Chinese teaching in Vietnam, and puts forward some suggestions of providing some useful reference materials for Chinese teaching in Vietnam.

13. Subsequent research directions: Studying the characteristics of the title language in Vietnamese, comparing the characteristics of the title language of Chinese and Vietnamese newspapers.
