11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

Clarified the criteria to evaluate the vulnerability of the mountainous highway and the current status of natural hazards of Highway No.6 in Hoa Binh province by using remote sensing and GIS technology.

Identified risks and vulnerable level of National Highway No.6 shown on thematic map as a scientific basis to propose solutions to ensure the quality of exploitation within the studying area.

12. Paratical applicability, if any:

The research results are highly applicability in practice because Highway No.6 is located in Hoa Binh province, 115 km in length, running through various forms of mountainous terrain, steep slope, complex geological conditions. Besides that, natural disasters often occur, directly affecting on the route as well as disrupting the quality of route exploitation. Therefore, the research results of the thesis have identified and zoned sections of routes in the risk zone and the vulnerability of natural disasters by remote sensing and GIS technology, at the same time, provided scientific basis for proposing solutions to ensure the quality of operation of this important route.

13. Further research directions, if any

- The next research evaluates the impact of an earthquake on a mountainous highway by remote sensing technology and GIS.

- The next research applies the remote sensing and GIS technology in tracking and warning accident black spots on mountainous highways.
