At the reception, Mr. David W. Leebron said that Rice University was consistently listed among the top 20 universities in the United States, ranked 94th among the universities in the world and 6th among the research universities in the world. Rice University has won two Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and 2 US National Medals of Science. Rice University is currently implementing the strategies to be placed among the top 10 universities in the United States. The areas of strength at Rice University are Natural Sciences, Technology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Education and Economics. 
On October 6, 2015, VNU Vice President Lê Quân welcomed and had a working session with Rice University President David W. Leebron. Attending the session were representatives from VNU University of Engineering and Technology, VNU University of Education; and VNU scientists having cooperation proposals with Rice University. Talking with President David W. Leebron, VNU Vice President Lê Quân emphasized VNU’s priorities in the cooperation with US universities. To date, VNU has partnered with 29 US universities; among those are such world leading universities as the University of Chicago, Massachusetts Insititute of Technology, the University of Illinois, Brown University, Tufts University, the University of Hawaii, the University of Oregon, Princeton University, the University of California … 
After exchanging opinions, the two parties agreed to cooperate in organizing international conferences on social sciences and humanities; researching into educational technology and university administration; exchanging faculty/students, and developind strong technology research teams.
