VNU and the University of Illinois: Establishing Cooperation in Research Fields
VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ had a working reception with a delegation from the University of Illinois (USA) led by President Robert A. Easter on June 17, 2014. Attending the meeting were also representatives from functional departments and a number of scientists of VNU.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation direction in research activities, in which VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ proposed that the activities in cooperation and research be focused on climate change, technical sensor equipment, materials science, sociology, economics and sustainable development.

President Robert A. Easter said that the cooperation proposals from VNU is practical and potential. With the positive traditional cooperation between the two universities in recent years, President Robert A. Easter affirmed he will create the most favorable conditions for the most effective cooperation activities in research and development. Besides, in academic field, the University of Illinois will continue to appoint lecturers and experts to teach in VNU members.

The University of Illinois is a system of public universities in Illinois (United States), including 3 universities (in 3 establishments): Urbana - Champaign (UIUC), Chicago (UIC), and Springfield (UIS). Illionois University is operated and managed by the 13-member Board of Directors.

UIUC founded in 1867 is the largest and most prestigious multi-sector, multi-disciplinary school of the three schools in the University of Illinois, which includes 13 member schools and affiliated units, providing graduate and undergraduate courses in more than 150 fields. UIUC currently ranks 3rd in technical training, according to 2007 rankings of ARWU-FIELD. UIUC has cooperated with VNU School of Sciences since 2006 in the field of Chemistry and Geology and has achieved good results.

UIC established in 1867 is located in Chicago and has around 25,000 students currently enrolled in undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral programs. All academic programs comprise the main majors such as: Applied Health Sciences, Arts and Architecture, Business, Administration, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Social Work, Urban Planning and Public Affairs.

UIS established in 1969 is the newest and smallest school in the University of Illinois system, with approximately 50 undergraduate and postgraduate training programs with such majors as Business Administration, Education, Natural and Social Sciences, Diplomacy and so on. UIS is recognized as of good quality by an organization to control training quality of international business management called the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
