40th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations: Promoting the development of global human resource
VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức attended the Symposium of 6 Vietnam- Japan universities held in Hanoi on December 21st, 2013.

Attending the Symposium were also Mr. Hideo Suzuki – Envoy of Japan Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Toshinori Kobayashi – Head of Department of Economics, Trade and Industry, Kansai Prefecture, Japan; Mr Mutsuya Mori , Chief Representative of JICA in Vietnam; Mr Moritake Hattori – Managing Advisor of Sheshu Ikeda Bank; Prof. Hiroshi Matsumoto –Director of Kyoto University; Prof. Hideki Fukuda – Director of Kobe University; Prof. Toshio Hirano – Director of Osaka University; Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Cảnh Lương – Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Technology; Prof. Dr. Hoàng Văn Châu – Director of Foreign Trade University, together with Vietnamese and Japanese scientists, experts, lecturers and students.
The symposium is in the frame work of the activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2013). The theme of the symposium is “The global human resources: Reflection on human resource of Vietnam and Kansai Prefecture, Japan”.
At the symposium, Prof. Dr Nguyễn Hữu Đức introduced the strategy of the VNU’s intergration and internationalization and VNU’s viewpoints on the modern production forces, the main solutions in training human resource as well as putting forwards some cooperation proposals for Japanese partners. According to VNU’s Vice President, apart from asserting gradually its position as the top research university, VNU is also developing in accordance with the orientation to become the leading unit in Vietnam’s education and training renovation and at the same time one of the most important addresses for cultural, scientific and political exchanges in Vietnam.
VNU is currently implementing the 16+23 plan, in which 16 undergraduate programs, 23 master programs and 23 doctoral programs have been selected to meet international standards. To assure the quality conditions and international reliability, VNU has organized the control of quality of academic programs to the international and regional standards (external evaluation based on the quality control standard of the Asian Universities Network).
