The Japanese delegation includes senior officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the professors in various fields of leading universities in Japan such as the University of Tokyo, KyotoUniversity, WasedaUniversity. The delegation introduced to VNU the results of basic research conducted by JICA and proposed to provide technical assistance for VNU Vietnam-Japan University project in the 2015-2019 period.

While working at VNU, the Japanese delegation met and discussed with VNU scientists about the academic training programs that the Japanese side can cooperate with VNU to implement them by 2016. These programs belong to the scientific and technical field and the social science field. And these fields are the strength of the Japanese universities.

On behalf of VNU, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hoàng Hải acknowledged with honor the proposal from the Japanese side and proposed for the deeper cooperation of the two sides in the coming time. Before concluding the visit at VNU, the delegation visited the key laboratories at VNU University of Technology Engineering and VNU University of Natural Sciences.

The groups discussed about the academic training programs which Japan can cooperate to implement with VNU in 2016. 

On 07/21/2014, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1186/QD-TTg on establishing VNU Vietnam - Japan University. VNU Vietnam - Japan University is built in the model of excellent university-based on the basic science and high-tech, closely associated with the higher education establishments of Vietnam and Japan. The university will train the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels with a total size of approximately 6,000 students. It is the symbol for the strategic relationship between VNU and the Japanese partners in particular and between Vietnam and Japan in general.
