VNU expands scientific research cooperation with Taiwan partners
On July 9, 2015, Vietnam - Taiwan Joint Workshop for Promoting Applied Research Cooperation, and a Cooperation agreement signing ceremony among VNU, Taiwan National Applied Research Laboratories and Taiwan Agricultural Technology Research Institute, took place at VNU.

 

Former Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology, Chairman of Vietnam National Science and Technology Policy Council Hoàng Văn Phong attended the event.

Participating in the event, from VNU side were Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức, authorized representatives and scientists from VNU member universities, institutes and research centres. For Taiwan side were Chief Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hanoi Hoàng Chí Bằng, President of National Applied Research Laboratories  Ching-Hua Lo and a number of scientists. 

"Vietnam - Taiwan joint workshop for promoting applied research cooperation" is held to push up the ongoing effective and practical cooperative relations between the two sides; specifically, the cooperation among VNU, Taiwan National Applied Research Laboratories and Taiwan Agricultural Technology Research Institute”. Expressing his honor in witnessing the cooperation documents signing ceremony among the three large institutions of Vietnam and Taiwan in the field of scientific and technological applications, Chief Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hanoi Hoàng Chí Bằng said that the combination of VNU scientific research capacity with technology application capability of Taiwan partners would bring about more practical research results applicable to actual production and daily life. Over the past years, VNU has had a long-term comprehensive cooperation with science and technology institutions of Taiwan. 

 

 

President of Taiwan National Applied Research Laboratories Ching-Hua Lo proposed the two sides to promote collaborative research in order to provide sustainable scientific solutions to the global issues facing humanity. During the workshop, VNU signed a cooperation agreement with Taiwan National Applied Research Laboratories; the areas of cooperation include Information technology and Communications, Field supervision, Materials and Components technology, Biology and Pharma-Medical technology, High-tech Agriculture, Policy Studies, etc.

 

 

After the agreement signing ceremony, VNU and Taiwan scientists discussed cooperation plans in such fields as advanced technology in information communications, environmental disaster mitigation, development of high-tech sciences, training programs exchange, etc.

Closing the workshop, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức expected that the parties would soon design collaborative research programs on applied sciences and new technology development and, on the basis of the research activities, the partners’ scientists would co-design undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering technology disciplines, enhance faculty and students exchanges, co-organize scientific conferences and promote research results publishing in high-prestige journals.
