Since July 2018, the Cybermetrics Lab has temporarily suspended reviews and ratings of digital libraries through 4 criteria including Size, Visibility, Rich files and Scholar and started its ranking based on the number of academic materials indexed in Google Scholar and the number of online magazine portals.
With 40,000 academic documents (updated May, 2019), including 18,200 documents (excluding inventions and citations) indexed in Google Scholar, VNU Digital Repository has been rated and ranked 170/3,059 institutional repositories and 184/3,158 world repositories.

VNU’s digital repository, available at http://repository.vnu.edu.vn/, is storing and managing about 50,000 digital objects including the largest collection of theses and dissertations defended at VNU, the system of 12 magazines, research topics, conference proceedings, seminars and many other rare and precious documents collections. VNU’s digital repository is frequently used by readers both inside and outside VNU.
As VNU is oriented towards a digital and smart university, it is essential to build a digital library to meet the needs of projected training fields, such as Agricultural Technology, Aerospace, Water Resources and Environment, Japanese Studies, Testing Techniques, International Trade Law ... and some other high-quality academic disciplines.
The above-named encouraging ranking affirms VNU’s recent appropriate investment policy for the development of its digital library as well as proves VNU’s role and status in advancing its training, research quality towards international standards.
