11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

- Firstly, to point out and analyse layers and elements of Southern culture that contribute to the shaping of Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s personality and impact on his literary moral teachings.

- Secondly, to examine Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s influences on Southern literature in transitional period (from late nineteenth century to early twentieth century) with two tendencies: reception and counter-reception, as well as behaviors of many generations of common people in this region until present time.

12. Practical applicability, if any: the findings of the thesis can be applied to teaching in school to increase the student’s interest.

13. Further research directions, if any: the study of Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s influence on the cultural space of southern area of Vietnam can be carried on with modern Vietnamese literature and culture.
