5. Admission decision number: No 3979/QĐ-ĐHKHTN on 24/11/2016 of the Rector of VNU, University of Science.

6. Changes in academic process: No

7. Official thesis title: History of tectonic deformation of the northern part of Kon Tum massif.

8. Major: Geology                                                         9. Code: 9440201.01

10. Supervisors: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Vuong

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

Elucidating that the Tam Ky-Phuoc Son suture zone was formed due to the subduction and collision between the South Vietnam block underneath the Viet-Laos block during Ordovician-Silurian time.

Documented that the Kon Tum massif is a Metamorphic Core Complex generated in the first stage of the Permian-Triassic tectonic movement.

Documented that the along with the south central Vietnam, the studied area have been affecting continuously by 4 successive strike slip tectonic regimes from Oligocene to the present day.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The dissertation's new finding results provide scientific basis: 1) for deep mineral resources exploration with the focusing on Early Paleozoic and Permian-Triassic tectonics movements and related magmatism and metamorphism, and 2) for tectonics related geo-hazard mitigation in the Kon Tum region.

13. Further research directions, if any

            - The next researches should focus on the nature of the Carboniferous thermos-tectonic event (around 360 Ma) as indicated by zircon LA ICP-MS U/Pb isotopic age revealed by the present thesis in the Kon Tum massif.

            - The next investigation should also to elucidate the tectonics for the period before Ordovician time not only for the Kon Tum massif but also for the Indochina terrane.
