 - Research purposes

The thesis aims to clarify some theoretical issues about the demonstration, the right to protest, assurance of the right to protest of citizens; analyze the situation of protests and the situation of ensuring the right to protest of citizens in Vietnam, thereby, propose solutions to better ensure the right of citizen's protest in the coming time.

- Research subject

The object of the thesis is the theoretical issues of demonstrations, the right to protest, the assurance of citizens' right to protest and the practice of ensuring the right to protest of citizens in Vietnam today.

- Research methods

The thesis uses research methods: Method of document research, analysis, synthesis, statistics and comparative research, case studies, historical studies.

- Main results of the thesis

+ The thesis allows to better see the scientific basis of ensuring the right to protest of citizens in Vietnam.  

+ The thesis analyzes the situation of citizens’ demonstrating, assesses the current situation of citizens' right to protest in the country, and clarifies the causes leading to limitations in ensuring of citizens' right to protest in reality.

 + The thesis proposes views and solutions to enhance ensuring of citizens' right

to protest in the future.

- New points of the thesis

+ To build the concept of demonstration, the right to protest and guarantee the citizen's right to protest.

+ To differentiate demonstrations from free assembly, rallies, riot, strikes.

+ To analyze the characteristics, purpose of the demonstration and characteristics, meaning, scope and limits of citizens' right to protest.

+ Analyze and clarify the content and form of ensuring citizens' right to protest.

+ Proposing views and solutions to ensure the right to protest of citizens in Vietnam today.

            - Conclusions

         As a systematic, in-depth and comprehensive research project on ensuring the right to protest of citizens in our country today, the thesis has made new contributions both theoretically and practically. The thesis does not coincide with published works.

- Theoretical and practical significance of the thesis

- The thesis contributes to building a theoretical basis for demonstrations, the right to protest and insurance of the right to protest of citizens; views and perceptions on the protests, the right to protest, the practice to ensure the right to protest of citizens of some countries in the world; the views of the Party and the State on the protests, the right to protest, the cognitive views of scientists, lawmakers, of State officials and of the people in Vietnam.

- The thesis uses and combines smoothly in both qualitative and quantitative research directions (analyzing statistics and data) in order to reflect objectively and clearly on the protest situation in our country, from then on, assess the advantages, shortcomings and point out the limitations, clarify the reasons leading to the limitations in ensuring citizens' right to protest in practice.

- The thesis has great practical value when it propose measures of to ensure the right to protest of citizens in our country in the coming time, such as giving the points that need to be considered when developing protest law; proposing legal framework for demonstrations; building and improving the operational efficiency of the authorities; ensuring conditions for facilities to ensure citizen's right to protest; inspecting and strictly handling acts of legal violence that hinder the exercise of citizens' right to protest. The thesis will be a useful reference for research work and for policy makers in providing solutions to strengthen ensuring citizens' right to protest in accordance with reality, at the same time as the reference materials for students and law students; for teaching work at law training institutions.
