In this paper some characteristics are presented of the optical bistability in lasers containing a saturable absorber, with a Gaussian beam profile. Using the Lamb theory, the problem is solved for the case of ring-like and Fabry-Perot resonators. Results are similar to those of Saloma and Stenholm when the Gaussian beam profile wave transforms to the plane wave. Also obtained was the dependence of the Gaussian beam on the laser tube radius and the appearance threshold of the optical bistability effect when the Gaussian beam wave is higher than the plane wave. © 1991.
