On the taxonomy and ecology of the mangrove crab Perisesarma maipoense (Soh, 1978) (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura: Sesarmidae) from Vietnam
Perisesarma maipoense (Soh, 1978) previously considered endemic to Hong Kong and Macau, is recorded from northern Vietnam, and redescribed based on a paratype and Vietnamese specimens. Perisesarma maipoense is characterized by a row of 5-8 fl attened, indistinct tubercles on the dorsal surface of the dactyl of the cheliped. This species prefers muddy through to hard substrates in mangrove areas near the water's edge, with burrows as deep as 50 cm. © National University of Singapore.
