VNU–VSL (VNU Scientist Links): Sponsorship Reception Ceremony and Exchange Program with PetroVietnam (PVN)
On September 22, 2015, a Sponsorship reception ceremony and exchange program with PVN took place at VNU. This is a program held by VNU-VSL in collaboration with VNU Development Fund.

 

Attending the program were VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ, Chairman of VNU-VSL; PVN Deputy Director Lê Mạnh Hùng, VNU-VSL Executive Board and VNU Development Fund Director Board; Leaders of PVN affiliates and a large number of scientists from VNU and PVN.

 

 

Speaking at the ceremony, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hoàng Hải, Director of VNU Development Fund, extended his thanks to PVN in general and PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) in particular for  providing VND 1.2 billion to support international publications by VNU-VSL faculty and scientists in 2015. VNU Development Fund Director also hoped that VNU would receive more funding from the businesses and pledged that the money would be effectively and transparently used so that VNU scientists, undergraduate, Master and doctoral students would have more opportunities to advance.

 

At the sponsorship reception ceremony, VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ said that the cooperation between VNU and PVN had yielded a number of highly encouraging specific results since 2011; most prominent were Nguyễn Văn Đạo Hall upgrading project and the Centre for Science and Technology Incubation project. More importantly, PVN had supported 120 international publications by 73 VNU scientists. That was one of the important conditions to help raise VNU’s ranking from the 1141st in February 2014 up to the 894th in February 2015 in Webometrics Ranking.  

 

 

PVN Deputy Director Lê Mạnh Hùng expressed his hope to cooperate with VNU in organizing education and scientific research activities aimed at improving the competiveness of PVN in the future. PVN is also willing to invest and assist scientists in creating practical science and technology solutions to meet the current urgent needs such as: optimizing management, creating products with distinctive values, forecasting niche markets and future science and technology trends.During the program, VNU - VSL scientists shared information and discussed prominent research results and directions.
