Honorary Doctor Degree conferred upon Prof. Peter Langer
In the afternoon of September 14, 2012, VNU solemnly organized Honorary Doctor Degree Conferring Ceremony upon Prof. Peter Langer, Rostock University, Germany.

VNU Vice Presidents, Prof.Dr.Sc. Vu Minh Giang and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son conferred the Honorary Doctor Degree to Prof. Peter Langer and gave congratulatory speeches.
Prof. Peter Langer is a leading scientist in Germany and Europe in the field of organic chemistry who has 465 research articles published in high-ranked international journals. He used to receive many national and international awards including the Honorary Doctor of Yerevan State University, Republic of Armenia.
More than 3 million Euros has been invested by Prof. Peter Langer to the education and training at developing countries, especially 200,000 Euro has been given to support Vietnamese students. He has strongly engaged in the scientific exchange, training of high quality human resources and high-level research support in developing countries, especially Vietnam. Prof. Peter Langer has devoted his time and effort to the high-level research and postgraduate training programs at VNU University of Science. More than 50 scientific papers of research students of VNU University of Science have been published in prestigious international journals of science thanks to the coordination of Prof. Peter Langer. Also, he has launched the movement of collecting equipments for the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry, VNU University of Science.
At the ceremony, Prof. Peter Langer expressed his honor to receive the Honorary Doctor Degree from VNU – the leading university in Vietnam. He showed his willing to contribute more to develop VNU into a leading university in training and research. In addition, he emphasized the important role of the students – the future owners of the country and confirmed that Rostock University and he himself would create the best conditions for VNU students to study and do researches in Germany, contributing to improve their knowledge.
Prof.Sr.Sc. Vu Minh Giang highly appreciated Prof. Peter Langer’s contribution to the scientific exchange and his support to research, training of high quality human resources and research/undergraduate students as well. He believed that Prof. Langer’s dedication and the close cooperation between VNU and Rostock would contribute to improve the quality of education, training and research at VNU and tighten the friendship between the two nations.
