In the morning of October 4, 2012, the exchange meeting of students receiving Lawrence S.Ting scholarship was co-organized by VNU and Lawrence S.Ting Memorial Fund with the attendance of Mrs. Ting Fei Tsong Ching – Chairwoman of Executive Board of Lawrence S.Ting Memorial Fund, Mr. Phan Chánh Dưỡng – Director of Lawrence S.Ting Memorial Fund, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Tuyết – Vice Director of VNU Political-Students Affairs Department, lecturers and students from VNU, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hanoi Law University.
Foundation community support Lawrence S. Ting is established in 2005, this social, non-government and non-profit organization operates by mobilizing the sponsorships and voluntary contributions from national and foreign individuals and organizations. The fund’s scholarships are saved for social, medical, education and training fields with a focus on education so as to develop the young human resources for the country. After 10 times of scholarship awarding, more than 3,000 scholarships have been awarded to students of universities and schools nationwide, about 49,000 poor and eager-to-learn students and ethnic children from mountainous regions in 63 cities and provinces have received support to continue their study.
At the meeting, the scholarship awarded students had chances to express their thoughts and feelings. They shared that the Lawrence scholarships had contributed to their study and to form their awareness. In their future plans and purposes, many of them hope to collaborate with the Fund to provide other students with material and spiritual support, contributing to the future development of the country.
