Learning from the international experience for mapping teaching method innovation at VNU
Innovating and improving the teaching quality is an inevitable way that most higher education institutions select in the context of the Vietnamese higher education’s rapid growth in both quantity and quality, creating inevitable competition not only between domestic training institutions but also between domestic and foreign educational institutions both in Vietnam and worldwide.

As a pioneer in training and research and with competitive strengths in multi-disciplinary education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has mapped the innovation in teaching activities for the period of 2019 – 2025 with a focus on learning from the international experience.

In that spirit, on May 3, 2019, VNU in collaboration with University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, held the conference “Sharing experiences in innovation of teaching methods and technology by entrepreneurial approach”. Participating in the program were VNU staff and lecturers, expected disseminators of innovative, creative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit to students.

At the conference, specialists from UCD shared their experiences with the participants and the participants themselves took part in innovation and creativity activities within VIBE project. The message conveyed to the participants through these activities is that one should approach problems through empathy and regard failure as an opportunity to achieve better success.

VIBE is the project coordinated by VNU and UCD with Irish Aid support through the Irish Embassy. The project has delivered 2 successful training courses with 14 VNU staff members participating in field training activities in Ireland for 9 to 14 days since its beginning in 2018. The third VIBE course, held from May 2 to May 11, 2019, is expected to bring interesting experiences to participants, contributing to the forming of a community of creative, innovative and entrepreneurial educators within VNU.
