VNU always plays a pivotal role in the innovating of national higher education

The increase in ranking indexes and the number of international publications are prominent highlights of VNU. VNU's university rankings are constantly increasing. VNU was continuously ranked No. 1 in Vietnam and featured in Group 801 - 1000 best universities globally according to the Times Higher Education (THE); Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings placed VNU in Group 501 best universities globally. By indicator, the THE ranked VNU 1st among the ranked Vietnamese higher education institutions in teaching, research and international outlook. In particular, most recently, VNU featured in Group 101-150 under-50-year-old universities by the QS Top 50 Under 50 Rankings for the first time.

Pioneer in implementing national responsibility through socioeconomic development consultation for localities

Leaders of the Party and State appointed VNU’s scientists to lead the implementation of various nationally important tasks. Many leaders, managers and scientists from VNU are active members of the Central Theoretical Council, the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council, the National Committee on Education and Training Innovation, the National Council for Education and Human Resources Development, and the National Council for Cultural Heritage.

Pivotal role in national science development

VNU strongly promoted its development of fundamental and interdisciplinary sciences prioritizing innovation. Besides, VNU has selected several key scientific research directions to invest in to create focal scientific and technological products and national VNU-made products. VNU actively participated in the national innovation system and innovative startup ecosystem. In addition, VNU prioritized investment in increasing the scale of talent, advanced, high quality training programs; new highly interdisciplinary and cross disciplinary majors; key technology programs to meet the country's demand for high quality human resources in the 4^th industrial revolution; thereby demonstrating its superior position, its pivotal and leading role. Effectively implementing the policies of the Party and State, VNU promoted Vietnam’s strength in education to keep up with the world’s advanced standards as well as participate in regional and international human resources training market
