ONLINE TEACHING TECHNOLOGY

As the 2019 - 2020 academic year was extremely special due to the effect of the Covid-19 epidemic, the teaching and learning in the second term had to be changed from classroom-based to online teaching and learning (except the 2015 and 2016 intake classes of VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy). Although organization and management of online teaching was totally new to several VNU’s member units, documents, guidelines on organization and management of online training were timely issued thanks to high determination of all VNU’s staff, lecturers, students as well as the timely direction of VNU's Board of Presidents. Although seriously affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, management of full-time undergraduate training programs was stable and well-disciplined. The regular work was implemented basically in accordance with the academic year’s plan, ensuring work harmony among VNU’s member units. Training management was well implemented in compliance with existing regulations.

Encouraged by the initial results, to guide the training units to effectively plan, organize and manage online training, bringing benefits to learners, on September 10th, 2020, VNU's President signed Decision 2598/QĐ-ĐHQGHN promulgating the Regulation on organization and management of online training at VNU. This Regulation is applicable for VNU’s undergraduate and graduate training institutions but do not apply to junior high school, high school, and degree distance training programs.

As solutions for online classes organization and management were studied and tested by VNU’s member units’ lecturers prior to their application, they were timely and synchronously implemented. Some of the main solutions used were MS-Team, Zoom, Google Class. With this "digital classroom", lecturers and students can participate in remote teaching and learning by exchanging materials, lectures; assigning assignments, taking exams, grading and viewing test results; studying through livestreaming or interacting in real time, etc.
