The QS WUR 2022 ranked 1,300 universities out of 1,673 participating educational institutions from 93 countries and territories. 145 institutions participated in this ranking for the first time. This ranking’s results were based on 2 million scholar nominations and 450,000 employer nominations, collected from 130,000 scholars’ responses and 75,000 employers’ responses globally, and on the analysis of 96 million citations (from 2015 to 2020) from 14.7 million articles (from 2015 to 2019).

According to the ranking results, VNU features in Group 801-1,000 best universities globally for the fourth consecutive time. Although its overall ranking remains unchanged, VNU’s scores keep increasing, which improves its absolute ranking. Specifically, in the three previous rankings, VNU ranked among 78.5% (2019), 74.9% (2020), and 67.5% (2021) of the world top universities. In this ranking, VNU ranks among 61.6% of the world's leading universities.

Among this year’s ranking metrics, VNU's academic reputation has significantly increased, becoming the highest score of VNU (16.6 points and an increase by 6.4% compared to QS WUR 2021) and ranked 499^th globally (up 25 places compared to QS WUR 2021). In addition, VNU’s Employer reputation increased by 8% in comparison to the previous ranking, which shows that the international status and scientific prestige of VNU are increasing and widely-recognized by partners.

QS WUR rank universities according to 6 metrics, including: Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Citations per Faculty (20%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), International Faculty Ratio (5%) and International Student Ratio (5%). QS's ranking metrics emphasize the university’s contribution to and impact of training and research quality on society (through evaluation of domestic and foreign enterprises and scholars) together with its contribution to scientific research activities (through citations per faculty).
