Vietnam wins four medals at Int’t Biology Olympiad 2021

All four Vietnamese students have won medals, including a gold, at the 2021 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) which was virtually held by Portugal, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

The only gold medal for Vietnam was awarded to Dang Le Minh Khang, a 12th grader of Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted in Can Tho city.

Two other 12th graders hailing from Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho won two silver medals, while a 11th grader of Phu Tho received a bronze medal.

This year’s competition, IBO Challenge II, was held by Portugal in an online format from July 18 to July 23, attracting 304 contestants from 76 countries and territories worldwide.

This is the second time the IBO has been held in the online format due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier, the MOET announced that all six Vietnamese students have won medals at the 62 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) virtually held by Russia. They were awarded a godl, two silver and three bronze medals.
